MTV and Xbox 360

id anyone catch that Perfect Dark commercial on MTV last night?  It was supposed to focus on the new Xbox, but Perfect Dark stole the show and had more airtime. I must say that Perfect Dark looks great.

The new Xbox 360 console was displayed and I must say that I am really not all that impressed with the design of the box.  It is a white box that is concave on the top as well as the bottom when horizontal.  The thing would look nicer next to my fridge and microwave oven than on my entertainment center next to my television.  Microsoft seemed to take inspiration from the Macintosh folks and their Ipods. One of their features that they were impressed with was a button that had a halo of light around it; this has been done before.

The hardware itself wasn’t the focus of the half-hour show, but it is the focus of the enthusiasts.  Rumor has it that this thing will have 3 processors, 512mb ram, and 48 pipelines for video.  I must say that I was impressed.

Another perspective of the uninteresting display on MTV.
